It works well with Sony files, Ricoh GRIII & GRIIIx files as well. I’ve seen the best results with Fuji X-trans raw files. So their processing happens without actually applying any LR adjustments whatsoever. Probably because their demosaic process is linear, it’s DxO’s straight conversion, thus yielding a DNG file. The raw files, once run through the plugin show zero LR values for sharpening & noise reduction sliders (or any other adjustments for that matter).

If it’s an ISO 100 raw file, it seems to figure out it doesn’t need to do any noise reduction. It appears to significantly increase detail and sharpness, while reducing noise at any ISO level - if there is any. Check out our review if you'd like to learn more about the original DxO PureRAW release.

Where DxO PureRAW 2 offers perhaps its biggest improvements is how the software fits into existing, highly varied workflows. DxO promises 'superior image quality at the beginning of the editing process.' Whereas apps like DxO PhotoLab 5, Adobe Lightroom and Capture One offer RAW processing and editing all in one app, DxO PureRAW 2 is more like a 'pre-processor.' You use the software to process your RAW image files before you edit them in a different application. On Windows machines, you can expect gains up to 1.5x. On Apple Silicon, results are about 4x faster. Compared to DxO PRIME, the DxO algorithm which previously set the standard for denoising in the photo industry, DxO DeepPRIME delivers an improvement of around two ISO stops.'
