everything has sound from footsteps, to swinging swords, to doors opening, to eating and drinking. It's basically a dungeon crawl, but there's a lot to it that make it engaging.

Stonekeep pales even in comparison to those games that came a full decade earlier. It's hard to believe this game was developed by the people who gave us classics like The Bard's Tale and Wasteland.
So what do you have? A terribly disappointing dungeon hack. There is not only no story, but also no real role-playing, no adventure, and not very much action. That's because there isn't any story to speak of in the game itself you're in the keep, you hack up enemies, the end. A novel was included with the original game, which sounds like a nice bonus until you realize that it isn't a bonus. The main problem isn't programming or design, though, but the game's very concept. Your character stutters around in increments rather than smoothly, so you don't get the feeling of really being there like you might in a game like Daggerfall. This game was in development for 5 years, and it shows. Finally, Stonekeep does make you appreciate just about every other RPG by comparison.Įverything else. I actually got a laugh out of the introductory video sequence. I didn't really experience any technical problems or bugs. The stereo sound is quite good, almost immersive at times. I could say "nothing," but I am a generous soul, so I will find some nice things to say.
Drake becomes stronger by repeatedly fighting with a particular type of weapon. Over the course of the game, up to three other characters will join the party and help Drake in combat, controlled by the computer AI. There is no character creation Drake's initial statistics are pre-set. Stonekeep is a dungeon-crawling role-playing game with real-time combat. Drake must avenge his past, and find a way to liberate the benevolent gods of the realm. Years later, Drake returns to the ruins of Stonekeep, and the goddess Thera extracts his spirit so that he might withstand the dangers that await him there. Next time heed the the advise of the sign: "Those who are greedy will close all doors" (although there is a way to get all three items in one go).When the insane god Khull-Khuum was rampaging the world, devastating everything on his way, the only person who survived the destruction of the Stonekeep castle was a boy named Drake, saved by a mysterious figure. Do you have a previous save file? I can't think of another solution short of using a game editor to move you in/out of the key room.
There is yet another key (the Orb Key) in the same area as the reset button that you need to complete the level. To get access to the reset button area you need the Eagle Key which you find in an area you open up with the Wolf Key. There is a way to reset this trap and unlock the doors via a wall button in the top right corner of map (Gate of the Ancients). This is in The Pits where the blue Wolf Key is, right? Going by memory. Is this key a must in advancing and is my game screwed? Through a video guide I saw there is a key behind one of the 3 doors that lock, I got the other 2 doors open, getting a shield and a ring and the 3rd one locked forbidding me the key? I have literary been everywhere on those 2 maps.I have found no keys, thus the only unexplored hexes are on the Gate of the Ancients level, where there are 2 locked doors i can't get past and a spear wall thingy.These are my 3 barriers right now.
